Suppose we take for granted (as we often do) that the circumference of a circle of radius [math]\displaystyle{ r }[/math] is [math]\displaystyle{ 2\pi r }[/math]. Can we use this fact to show that the area bounded by a circle is [math]\displaystyle{ \pi r^2 }[/math]
